Having it bring over 2010 is an example of why I like to migrate manually (at least on windows). Dock has office 2010 icon as a question mark. So after that error message, new machine boots up into that user. Then I get a 'can't optain permission to create users on this system' error message - this was after going through migration a couple times and when it starts,new machine says the user already exists / I tell it to delete the user (start from fresh? They were moving apps at the 45 min mark, so I uncheked the apps to move over. So I've stopped / restarted migration a couple times. Not sure if there's corruption but migration kinda stops at 46 minutes left when I'd wake them up / move the mouse. When the screens go black, is it still working in the background? The file vault on the old machine has been running, fails at 70% and repeats, (but no effect on operation). Why not start off fresh with just what they need.Īnyway, trying out the mac migration tool. After all those years with old machine there's loads of apps that they don't use anymore / lots of clutter. Moving to a new windows machine is a manual process for me - I don't like the tools to move the whole profile. I know windows much better (kinda like night and day in the amount of knowledge I know (windows). Just got a new macbook air and I'm setting it up for them. Helping someone out that has a 2011? macbook air.
